Event Goals

  • Define the concept of Procedural Sedation.
  • Differentiate the patient status during each phase of sedation (minimal, moderate, deep sedation, and general anesthesia) by accurately describing the physiological changes in a case scenario.
  • Identify and list the necessary equipment to safely monitor patient parameters during Procedural Sedation.
  • Assess patients according to recommended standards and guidelines pre, intra and post procedure during a simulation/role play exercise.
  • Recognize and demonstrate management of at least three potential complications arising during Procedural Sedation by successfully responding to scenarios within the designated timeframe.
  • Identify and describe the approved drugs used for procedural sedation, including their indications, dosages, and potential side effects.
