Event Goals

  • Identify the development, philosophy and principles of palliative care
  • Discuss the different dimensions of quality of life provided at end of life.
  • Assess the needs of patients requiring palliative care
  • Assess and manage the physical symptoms of palliative care patient.
  • Assess and manage the psychological symptoms of palliative care patient.
  • Demonstrate psychosocial support and spiritual care for patients with life threatening diseases.
  • Discuss the role of communication with palliative care patients and concepts of providing a holistic care approach using interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary team approaches.
  • Discuss the concept of death, dying and bereavement care during end-of-life.
  • Identify the concept of palliative care sedation, situations of use and medications used
