Event Goals

Upon successful completion of this course, participant should be able to:
Perform high-quality CPR for Child CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) use and infant CPR
Differentiate between patients who do and do not require immediate intervention
Apply the primary assessment, which includes airway, breathing, circulation, disability, and exposure
Describe the systematic approach
Describe the evaluate-identify-intervene sequence.
Use the Pediatric Assessment Triangle to form an initial impression of patient
Apply the secondary assessment, which includes a SAMPLE history and a physical exam
Demonstrate reassessment of patients after each intervention by using the evaluate-identify-intervene sequence
Recognize cardiopulmonary arrest early and begin CPR within 10 seconds
o Apply team dynamics o Differentiate between respiratory distress and failure
o Preform early interventions tor respiratory distress and failure
o Differentiate between compensated and decompensated (hypotensive) shock
o Describe clinical characteristics of instability in patients with arrhythmias.
Describe initial steps of post-cardiac arrest management.
